Need to know more?
EyZEE Core is software for your own hardware running Home Assistant OS. EyZEE Home is our complete supplied system.
Use a device on the same home network as Home Assistant. You’ll need an administrator account and internet access for downloads.
Before installing, back up Home Assistant. If you have not finished its welcome screens, create your account first and keep your username and password safe.
The install button opens http://homeassistant.local. Sign in if asked, then confirm adding EyZEE.
Using a different Home Assistant address?
Enter the address that already works in your browser. Include a port only if your system needs one.
What happens at each step?
1Add EyZEE to Home Assistant
- Press Install EyZEE Core. Your Home Assistant opens directly in a new tab.
- Sign in with your Home Assistant administrator account if asked.
- If the add repository dialog appears, check the address and press Add. Allow the app store to refresh, then search for EyZEE Setup.
If the app store opens without the dialog, open its ⋮ menu → Repositories and add this address:
https://github.com/eyzee-au/eyzee-home-apps
If Home Assistant does not open, expand Using a different Home Assistant address? in this section, enter your working address and press Use This Address, then try again.
2Install and open EyZEE Setup
- In the app store’s search bar, type EyZEE Setup, then open the matching app.
- Press Install and wait for it to finish.
- Press Start.
- Press Open Web UI to open the EyZEE setup screen.
Home Assistant may call these “apps” or “add-ons”, depending on its version.
3Prepare your home
You can optionally select Use eyzee-core.local for this new system before starting. Leave it unticked to keep your current Home Assistant address. Choose a name that is not already in use on your network.
Press Prepare My Home. EyZEE Setup saves a recovery copy, installs the supporting apps and EyZEE files, and checks the Home Assistant configuration.
The Prepare My Home button disappears while setup runs so the next action is easy to see. If preparation fails or is interrupted, it returns as Retry Preparation.
Keep this screen open and leave your Home Assistant and gateway powered on. Downloads can take several minutes. Home Assistant restarts during preparation.
4Choose your Zigbee gateway
Choose the gateway you want to connect. If there is more than one, use its label or MAC address to identify it.
EyZEE connects the selected gateway and checks that the Zigbee service reports the correct connection.
If no gateway appears, check its power and Ethernet cable, then press Find Again.
5Open EyZEE Core
When EyZEE Setup reports Your home is ready, press Open EyZEE Core.
If you selected the new address, setup applies eyzee-core.local after the connection checks pass. Once the hostname is confirmed, Open EyZEE Core uses that address, keeping your current protocol and port. Otherwise, it uses your existing address.
You can now begin adding your rooms and devices. Some dashboard labels still say EyZEE Home in this beta.
Home Assistant didn’t open?
If eyzee-core.local does not open after setup, expand Setup progress & help in the installer and select Open Using Current Address, or use the system’s IP address. Local hostname discovery depends on your network and browser. Bookmarks using the previous hostname may need updating.
Check that you’re connected to the same home network. Try opening Home Assistant directly. If you normally use a different address, enter it under Using a different Home Assistant address? in this section and press Use This Address. Both start buttons will then use that address.
EyZEE Setup needs Home Assistant OS and an administrator account. If the repository has been added but you cannot see the app, search the app store for EyZEE Setup.
If setup stops inside EyZEE Setup, check power and network, then retry. You can download a setup report from its Setup progress & help section.
